Massage
At The Vault Gym we have our own in-house massage therapist. Operating out of her private treatment room, Joanne can perform many massage styles. Some of the more popular are listed below.
Joanne has spent many years traveling the world and learning the ancient arts from their original sources. This authenticity shines through in Jo’s work and she has a huge following in London.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury.
Sports Related Massage
Sports massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage emphasises prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. That said, you don't have to be an elite athlete to benefit from sports massage – it’s also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion.
Hot Stone Massage
Smooth, glistening, specially selected heated stones are massaged into the body providing a nurturing and enhanced therapeutic effect. Tension melts away as the heat penetrates deep into the muscles whilst opening up the meridians (energy pathways).
Thai Yoga Massage
This powerful form of massage is an ancient healing treatment, Fusing the principles of the Indian system of yoga and the Chinese system of acupressure, it blends energy line work with stretches and applied yoga. A full Thai massage is a complete rebalancing treatment for the entire body. However, it can also be used therapeutically to treat specific conditions including back pain, sciatica, digestive disorders, and low energy, headaches and muscle pain.
Indian Rope Massage
This is a full-body massage with oil, during which the massage therapist balances from a rope and uses their feet to apply deep pressure up and down the body, focusing on relieving tension from pressure points. Designed to ease back pain, loosen tight muscles and resolve mild postural problems.
